Wood of Bournemouth

What a waste of space!

I have never been that impressed with Wood's, I bought a 330D from them 3 years ago and when I was going to buy my Z4 I called them 3 or 4 times and didn't get called back once so I bought the Zed from Tice (now Westerley's Dorchester).

I wanted to have a look at the new Zed a few weeks ago and popped in to Wood. I was outside for a while and then went inside to have a look at one in their showroom, not once was I spoken to in there, after being onsite for about 15 mins I left. When I got home I contacted BMW HQ and within a couple of days I was contacted by Wood's - I don't want to buy at the moment, I just want to have a look, that seemed to finish the conversation. At my local BMW bike dealer they know that I'm not going to buy everytime but I have bought a new bike every two years for the last 24 years from them! Why can't I have the same service from a car dealer?

Anyway, it's time for the car's first service, again I called Wood's, as I'm only a couple of miles down the road, the first time I left a message during the morning and then called them again when they didn't call back at 5pm but was told they couldn't quote me for the service as they didn't know what was needed  I called Westerley in Yeovil, was given a price and made a booking for next week.

I don't think I will ever try and use Wood's again, as I think they're useless!

So MarkN, where do you now take it? My nearest is Wood, I live in Bournemouth but do have an office in Dorchester so worth using Westerleys, got a while to go yet, first service 18000 miles so a little way off but would welcome your thoughts.

Cheers

So I hope that you will document your complaint by letter to both BMW UK and the Dealer Principle with details of who you spoke to, when etc. It's only if you/we do this that we can expect any changes to be made. AND of course a similar letter about the good service you get from your bike dealer.

I've had mixed experiences with Wood. My Z4M was supplied by them and I've also arranged a Mini for my Mum and another for a friend from there.

Good - the salesman let me take the Z4M home to see if it would fit in my garage before I bought it, and got me a 120i M Sport as a loaner while it was PDI'd and given it's 1200 service. When I needed Insp 1, they reduced their price from £930 to £600 to price match Cotswold BMW. They tend to give me good loaners during services too.

Bad - New Car Sales. I was called to suggest I come and look at an E92 M3 as 'we are offering massive discounts on list for 4 unregistered cars'. This was during the big christmas slump in 08/09. I went to see them and they were offering £3k off a £56k car (massive? Er, no.) and ridiculous trade in's, apparently ignorant of the fact there were 6 month old M3s on the AUC for £43k, and thus signing up for one of their £53k cars would be financial suicide. There was also one salesman on new cars who was incredibly aggressive when I wouldn't order a 335i Sport with an auto and, essentially, an arrogant little *****, but he has since left I am told.

Their service department also tends to take a while to return calls, and their prices are always too high. But you can chip them, got £3k off list on my Z4.
