Wood dust.

Anyone got any ideas what this dust might be, it's on both sides of one beam only in the garage and collecting on the floor below. Woodoworm maybe?

If you can see small holes where the frass (wood dust) starts then I'd think that it's likely to be a wood borer of some description - shouldn't be a major problem, but I'd treat all the wood in the garage *now* before it has a chance to spread

That beam looks like it's riddled with worm. The small black dots could be something else though, given the limitatins of the photo

Never seen woodworm leave piles of dust though
