Hi all.

Live in SW Scotland and going through a bit of a crisis so looking for an auto 3.0ltr Z4 to put a stop to that. I am a wheelchair user and would love to know how big the boot is on the Z4, I think I will need a rack for the chair, but it might be nice to get something in the boot like the 24" wheels.

Here is a picture from my last crisis:

Its a grey import, Honda Rune flat six 1800cc that was triked and painted by TrikeShop in Cardiff.

Happy motoring

Welcome

I can't help you on the wheelchair front as I've only had roadsters. The boot on the coupe is a reasonable size, but unless someone knows for sure it might be best to find one for sale and try it.

On another note that trike looks  I can only imagine what it sounds like when it fires up lol!

Agree coupe boot may be your best bet but having struggled to get my late dad's wheelchair easily into an A4 avant you would be best to try first

Good luck

Welcome to the forum. Not sure about the boot space I'm afraid.

I bet that thing makes a lot of noise

Well bike wheels at 26" have been put in the boot of roadsters if that helps. Some have even got whole bikes in there if the frames are DMSO. As others have said though you really need to try for yourself.

Thanks for the heads up on the boot size, I think there is one in the next village that I wave to. I will have to knock on their door and see if they will oblige.

The Rune was pretty quiet with a deep note. However, my old Honda Valkyrie had straight through pipes and that did play a merry tune!

My lad is temporarily using a wheelchair.
His first collapsable chair fitted in the boot ok, and his latest non-foldable one goes in just, with one of the quick release wheels in the boot and the other slots in down behind the passenger seat with the seat slid forward only about 3-4 inches.

Id suggest you test drove one on a forecourt or speak to somebody on the forum, near you who may let you try theirs for size. ( as long as they have a Roadster... )
Good luck !

Am a be now!

Bought a Z4 and picking up next week. Wheelchair fits into the boot snugly and some room either side for overnight bags, wohoo! :driving:

Cheers guys, pictures will be up as soon as I have some.

@BRC - I had been looking for a while and this one is the one for me - funny how you get that feeling and I have not even seen it. Buying blind does worry me a bit but its coming from a BMW dealer with 12 months warranty, tell me thats okay then.

I've bought two z4's that way!

Z4 Roadster, 3.0ltr Si auto. Carbon Black. Piano Black trim. Nav. Heated Seats. Blue Tooth. Elec Folding Mirrors.

About 26500 miles, 12 mths BMW warranty and all this for the mere snip of £12850. GULP. :driving:

Welcome to the forum

I also share the 'pleasures' of wheelchair and Z4 ownership. :D I have a rigid chair and a Z4 3.0si coupe. The chair and wheels fit well in the boot if I have someone with me. If I am on my own the wheels fit behind the passenger seat with the frame on the seat itself.

A recent trip to my parents in the Scottish borders was no problem with luggage stashed in and around the chair. :driving:

Look forward to seeing some pics

Don't worry, you'll probably spend more when you upgrade/ change in the future! :D
