Thought my luck was in, thought these lovely people here in Tunisia had changed my hire car from this, woefully underpowered, badly handling uncomfortably small Renault Symbol

Not normally a big fan of Ferrari but this is a stunning looking car.

Agree, that is one amazing car design. But since Ferrari has opted to discontinue the manual tranny, I've decided to boycott them and never buy one...

What? Really?

Bugger that then, my money is going back in the piggy bank too.....

Most car makers of sports cars going that way - look at how many 997, AMG's, Lambo etc all come in auto or automated manuals....I'd never drive a manual ever again...

Yeah, I back-tracked on that 458 purchase I had in mind for that reason.......

Seriously though, I'd want a manual - 911 or R8 or Aston, has to be manual for me for a sports car.

Blimey thanks for that also! Was off down the dealers tomorrow!! I'll keep my money now! :P

Manual only for me too. hate auto's , and a sports car MUST be manual, it sorts out the drivers from the w*nkers.......... :fuelfire:

It's all in the wrist action...

(changing gears manually, of course that's what I mean...)

Not to mention that the auto will never do what you want. Last week, in the Abarth with the flappy paddles, doing 45 or so in 4th, ready for a fast overtake, so pull the paddle back twice and pull over ...

Too quick for the box I suppose as it "beeped" at me, so there I am, wrong side of the road, having to pull the paddle again to change another gear down.

Or the X5 - line up for overtake, foot to the floor for kickdown and it decides that I am going fast enough for that gear to continue.

I will remain a manual gearbox person - it does what I want it to do when I want it to do and I don't have to rely on the box making a decision for me.
