Im at the final stage of retro fitting cruise control but have hit a small wall with the A6000.
I need to remove the Black 26pin plug

I realise you pull the slide back but it wont pull back far enough to slide out the Black X6002 24pin plug (see bellow)

I assume it pulls out further but i have tried and tried and as you pull it u can feel it click/lock into place (see last photo), i have tried squezing and pulling at the same time but it feels like this is as far as its mean to go :headbang:
I could REALLY do with not busting any of these parts.

Can any one assist or give me advise please?

Bing did his the other week so should be able to help.

Can you not reach the pin you require with it pulled out as far as it is?

Thanks, iv PM'ed Bling

typically the pin's i need to reach are on the end that's still inside :headbang:

That doesn't look like the right electrical block mate. Mine did not have that piece of plastic that's blocking you. Are you sure you're in the right electrical box ? The blue cable comes into the big electrical box from the cabin, but then needs routed through the rubber hose (just visible above your thumb in the first photo) into the little box that is kind of clipped vertically onto the front of the big one. If that makes any sense ? If it doesn't and you need pics, let me know.

Thanks for your help, im still really confused though.
I have managed to route the blue wire into the box via the hole (white plastic) behind the glove box, i read on here that was the easiest way in?
This is my electrical box im just confused now as to where i go next? I was aiming to to find a black 26 pin plug.
The loose blue wire you can see is mine, iv taped it off for now and tucked it away.

The instructions say "Disconnect and open plug X60002, black 26-pin from DME" im sure iv got the right plug

Hang fire, need to take a photo... But I think you have a different electrical box to me, which means I may not be able to help further. Weird, as Jan_Tekin has an 07 and his was the same as mine :?

Gimme 10 mins...

Okay, my electrical boxes look like this :

One big one up the top, which is the one in your photos, then attached vertically to the front of it is the small one. You can see the left hand rubber / plastic hose going from one to the other. Looks like you have a different hose though, and no small box. If you don't then I can't help I'm afraid, as my blue wire goes through the hose and is connected in the small box :(

I do have one piece of advice though - change the title of your original post to have 'cruise control' in it, may attract someone who can help

I think I can explain what's happening. The wire from pin 4 you're looking for normally goes to the box Bing is referring to. He probably connected to the other end of the wire you are seeking. From Bing's box the wire continues on to the switch. This is for the OEM installation. I take it this is missing. It's curious the pin 4 wire would exist, which must be the case for Bing's system to work.

So if you can connect the same way Bing did, you are in effect connecting to the pin 4 you cannot reach.

Nope. I just ran the blue wire from the cruise loom into the big box then routed straight through to the small box and plugged it into pin 39 referred to in the instructions above the ones ESP is referring to. They are very badly written as the instructions that were correct for mine say they are for the M54 engine. The electrical box must have been changed at some point during 07, which is why ESPs set up doesn't match mine.

SORTED!!!! :)

BING is right, but his is a N54 engine, but mine is a N46 so there for different.

I was right with the connector though, i managed to pull the slide out further (past the halfway lock) by pushing a small screwdriver through the end and pulling it. Then the X60002 26-pin plug slides free.

Then it was as i had read 'remove the 4th pin, tape it up and replace with the new BLUE wire'
What a lot of faffing!!
The BMW instructions are about as much use as a Chocolate Tea Pot :headbang:
There are alot of threads on here regarding cruise control but there very vague as to the last stage as there are 3 variations depending on your engine model.

Sorted now tho, tested and works a treat :D
Doubt ill use it much though hahaha
:driving:

Really glad you got it sorted

You want to know how the instructions are really crap though ? I had to follow the M54 instructions, but my engine is definitely an N52...

Just in case other read this Bing's is a N52 engine, not a N54. Dont want to confuse matter further. :)

Also glad this is sorted!

Everyone was slightly confused for one reason or another, myself as well. (but not srhutch, he's never confused).

I'll try to summarise the correct data for posterity, hopefully I don't confuse things further or cause further confusion. :?

The small box Bing used is only on N52 engines. There are 3 places you can connect the cruise blue wire on N52s, they all are on the same circuit, it doesn't make any difference which is used. 2 are in the small box. One is Bing's pin 39 of connector X60191 (42 pin, if there's a wire it's blue/black). You may also use pin 16 of connector X60193, also having 42 pins but closer to the left wing. It has a violet wire. Finally, you can use pin 4 of connector X60002 (24 pin, the same as ESP used despite having a different engine) in the main box, one of the DME connectors. It is the other end of the violet wire from pin 16.

No other Z4 engines have the little box, you connect the cruise blue wire to the DME in the main box as follows:
N46, as established, pin 4 of X60002 24 pin connector, the existing wire, if there, is white/blue.
M54, pin 27 of X60004 DME connector, 40 pin, with a blue/black wire if installed.
S54, pin 4 of X60002 24 pin connector, the existing wire, if there, is blue/black.

I was to begin with, unti it became apparent ESP had 2 cylinders missing

Clarity, finally - nice one bcworkz
