wiring DRL help

No I've watched the osram fitting video and the box of tricks needs a sidelight feed which turns the DRL's off when sidelights come on
Just need to know what colour is sidelight feed

Yes but if you found a ignition switched feed then you would not need to turn your side lights on.

If I'm not mistaken, the law explicitly states that purpose fitted DRL's should either dim or be off when any form of light be on (sidelight etc)

Sure the OP can do away without fitting it as per the instructions (which would make life easier by just feeding of the sidelight feed for a +ve and a -ve and then switched on inside), but it wouldn't strictly speaking be legal.

I think everyone is getting their wires crossed here (if you pardon the pun). I am trying to wire as per osram instructions and legal wiring requirements. The positive is taken care of with a direct feed off the battery as is the negative, all I need is to find the feed wire for the sidelights not for power but for a trigger switch to tell the module that once the sidelights go on my already on DRL's go off. As Neil said they go off or dim when sidelights are activated. I am NOT looking to power these off the sidelight feed

According to WDS, right side sidelight feed is black/blue and left is black/green.

You'll have to excuse some of us who like to know how things work, we are easily distracted by curiosity. I still don't see how this module can know whether the ignition is on or not. We all get that the side light feed toggles the DRLs. I realise all you want to do is get this working, but some of us can't help ourselves.

Thank you
Yes the blue/black is the supply to the drivers side light
I assume because the module is permanent live fed the sidelight feed must open a relay to disconnect the power
Here is the installation video

Doesn't say how it works...just tells you what to connect where

Thank you everyone for your help and advise. I'm going to attempt tomorrow so get ready for the fireworks display

On another note. I found the positive jump point under the bonnet...is there a negative jump point?

I'm with you on this, something is missing :?

Leesfarm07, yes there is, but for you application, there is no need to use it, just find any bolt on the chassis and that will suffice.

bcworkz and srhutch, from my understanding it relies on the fact that an alternator be working and that will trigger the lights to come on (difference from the battery's 12.4v resting to the output of 14.4v from the alternator)

I remember a Smart owner had some issues trying to fit these because the alternator wouldn't always be putting out a charge (something to do with reducing the load on the engine)

OK, makes sense, no good on a car with stop/start then as the would keep going out every time you stopped at traffic lights.

with ignition off or on....no drl's

with engine running drl's on

with engine running and sidelights on, drl's off

we got there in the end...thank you guys

Whilst I was clipping all the wiring in place I noticed a breather pipe was floating around not attached to anything. I then found a part that looked like this breather plugged into sort of around the air intake housing. I'm sure I haven't knocked it off whilst fiddling about so should I leave or push it back in. It's on passenger side of engine bay

They work!! :D :D

There shouldn't be any loose pipes about so it should connect to something. If there's any doubt, post a photo and someone should be able to confirm.
