Wipers!!!

Right, I've done a search and found two topics relating to wiper problems.

Unfortunately neither seem to be what I'm experiencing - one is the intermittent wiper not working properly and the other is wipers stopping temporarily and then restarting.

Mine won't come on at all, no matter where I put the stalk. The only way I can get them to work is by using the screen wash/wipe function. Fuses are fine!

Supposed to be going away this afternoon and now this happens :headbang:

Shouldn't complain really, as this is the first 'problem' I've had in 6 months.

I know this sounds a bit silly, but have you tried pulling out and/or wiggling any connecting plugs or wiper related wiring you can find..?

Alternatively, for a fall back Rain-X does indeed work very, very well indeed when applied correctly if you really must use your car and have no other means of transport. I've had roof chopped hotrods and all sorts of contraptions with "joke" wipers and never used the wipers as I've had rain-x on.

Not being very familiar still with these cars, are there any relays that could be at fault? Do you have the rain sensitive wipers? Maybe they need resetting?

Not much help I'm afraid, but trying to think of any possibles... :?

I regularly use Rain-X, unfortunately it doesn't work that well below about 60mph, and some of the roads I'll be using will be 30mph limits.

It also doesn't help in the misty rain that is too light to bead, but too thick to see through, nor does it help with dirty spray from other vehicles.

I have checked all the obvious solutions, including the fuses, the key position, taking the battery out for 30 mins to reset itself, and finally I've taken it to BMW where I've taken photos in front of the service advisor of my recently detailed interior & exterior with date stamps in case they try to wash it (which I've told them not to), dirty it, or damage it.

Fingers crossed, it'll be a simple fix and they won't tarnish your detailing work. I like your style with the photos...

Right, they've gotten back to me and it's a 'General Module Failure', and of course they don't stock these, so I've got to wait until Tuesday for the part and then they'll let me know if they've got space to fit me in, and then they'll see if they have a courtesy car available (£250 excess for £15+vat).

Well, just picked it up, just as the rain stopped!

I have tried them though and they do work - plus they didn't let their valeters anywhere near it due to the reminder I gave them this morning and the two notices I left in the car.

Almost didn't have it back today as their programming machines were being 'updated' and they weren't sure if the process would be completed in time :?

Just noticed that the new module has also removed the 'automatic door locking above 5mph' feature which I found annoying anyway
