Wipers being odd...

Mainly in intermittent mode.

One press of the wiper stalk down, and it'd do maybe two wipes, then on the 2nd one it'd come up 5cm after for a 3rd stroke and stop there.

Sometimes when it was on intermittent it'd do two wipes rather than one, and then wait 5cm up.

This morning it actually totally stopped working/responding and was stuck 5cm up on intermittent, I had to turn car off/on again to get wipers back.

Recently had windscreen replaced so the sensor is good. The lower scuttle isn't perfectly down across the bottom at the nearside, but I doubt there is anything down there that is getting damp that might be causing electric issues?

Seemed to be perfect after re-starting the car, so no idea. Maybe it just got itself confused over the last few months and culminated in this mornings weird wiper behaviour!?

Anyone had any similar issues? I've heard of the parking issue for the wipers, but not this type of one.

Thanks

Hehe, another job for the Christmas break :D

Thanks for the linky. I had assumed it would be this problem, but hadn't spotted a really nice FAQ had been produced!

I assume as the materials wear, the grease takes on copper particles enough to occasionally allow it to act as an electrical connection material.

Just wondering if re-greasing with something appropriate is sensible while I have it all in bits. Hmmmm.

I did this fix not long after i bought my Z4. Took about 30 minutes to do it, just follow the instructions. Since doing it not had a problem with the windscreen wipers!
