Wipers acting up

My wipers on my 2003 E85 have been acting up since the cold weather kicked in. They will stop at random positions and will not move until I turn the engine off and back on again. Everything I have read on this form and others indicates that it is the wiper relay. There are many DIY’s but all of them are so old that the links to the pictures are no good anymore. Does anyone have any good input or procedures for this repair?

Thanks,
Ken

Excess grease in wiper motor. Plenty guides how to strip down and clean. Half hour job and free.

Mines lasted nearly 2 years. Will now do it every year as a service item for all the time it takes :)

Thanks a lot. I have seen this thread before but it had no pictures. This is a big help!

Quick fix but be aware I did mine a few months ago and they're starting to play up again!
When I did mine I re-tensioned the contacts a bit as well as they seemed a bit marginal. No trouble since.

How do you do that?

Bend them a bit, they’re just bend strips of copper.

my wipers where doing the same thing , also the self level of the headlights failed every so often.
new battery sorted both.
