Wiper mech centre linkage. Nut missing? +water ingress. Edit, fixed.

2 birds one stone... weatherproofed/leakproofed the front scuttle with a bit of strategically-placed weatherstrip and also decided to try out a tip I’ve seen a few times on Youface and recondition it with a mix of 50/50 furniture oil and baby oil.

Looks a lot better than the faded mess it was but smells like a cheap hooker at a massage parlour.

That has come out really well - very useful tip. :thumbsup:

Looks like I'll be buying some oil next time I go shopping!

Probably better value than the cheap hooker from the massage parlour :P

Maybe useful for anyone subbed to this thread but a bit of an update;
Wiper linkage is still holding fine even though I didnt utilise the centre retaining clip. And if the linkage does come loose at any point in the future I’ll have a clip ready to go on.

More importantly perhaps was finding that I have finally solved the water ingress issue I’ve been experiencing since owning the car.
I performed the ultimate leak test today using a powerwasher aimed at all the ‘weak’ points around the cars bodywork; shutlines, windowframe, windscreen, door jambs, roof etc.
To be honest I was expecting the worst- yet more soggy carpets, but I’m happy to report everything inside was still bone dry! Yippee! :)

Fixing the scuttle clips and reinforcing with some weatherstrip has really done the trick. See above for details.
