Wiper issues

I almost left my zed at home last week when we drove to yorkshire because the wipers had started to behave erratically, parking in random places & not turning off!

I managed to get the wipers off with a tawdry puller from ebay that I ended up modifying so it worked

This is the bit that causes the aggro, it gets grease on the conductive tracks causing the park signal to become corrupted, cleaned it up & back on the car in a jiffy working like a windscreen wiper should!
Regards

I did this a few weeks back, all fixed and lovely but the problem reappeared this morning (and worse than before!). I must have done something wrong with the clean-up - do you need to use anything special for the contacts or is it just a case of wiping the area with a cloth or paper towel what I did)?

Hello rob, how did you remove the cover, as keen to remove and OCD clean even more nooks and crannines.

Hi jonny, there's some fiddly plastic screws on the "under the bonnet" section of the cover that need to come out & you need a wiper puller to get the wiper arms off-then I used a plastic prying tool to carefully slide under the part of the cover that sits on top of the windscreen, there were 5 or 6 poppers to unclip
Then it's off & you can go crazy with the microfibre cloths! Around the wiper motor was very mucky with all the leaves etc that go down there.
Couple of T30 torx screws each end of the wiper mechanism and that's off in a jiffy as well

fair enough, except

Anthony Colin Bruce Chapman had nothing to do with this particular vehicle

- but I'll let you off this time :driving:

Cheers

NP :D - I "assume" this is your track-day car :driving:

Hi, no longer got the elise :(
I sold it to get my Z4 as the lotus was just to intense to use daily & I couldn't use it to go away in due to the tiny boot & the tremendous noise becomes annoying after 20 mins....
This is my last pic of it waiting at the train station for the buyer to show up

And another one

Hi stratts, I just wiped off the excess grease with a microfibre cloth & reassembled the motor-you've worried me now! :?

Not sad, I was off to buy my zed half hour after selling the elise-had lots more use out of it & been away in it twice already.
It's got more creature comforts & it's the compromise I've been looking for
Mrs smartbear loves it as well which is a bonus
