Wiper issues

When on intermittent setting, my wipers will park where they should then after a few seconds they move about 2 inches then after another couple of seconds they wipe normally then the process starts again. Sure it didn't do this when I first had it. Any suggestions?

Thank you Stuart I'll give that a whirl. They've started squeaking quite badly over the last couple of days so better not leave it too long.

I was led to that post and recently took apart the wiper motor and cleaned out the grease (and there was a lot of it). While putting the motor back in there is a little white clip that holds the motor down, which I broke. I am in the US and the part lives in Germany, so now my car is idle until I get that clip ordered in. Just sayin'!

Tbh I don't know of anyone on here that has done this fix without breaking something! -(cue a long line of members that have done the fix and not broken anything)

Apart from the fantastic alternative shown in the above image, has anyone just bought a new wiper motor?

And would this solve the problem?

My wipers seem faulty too; don't work on the manual demand first time when you push the stalk down, timing seems out, and wiper blades don't always settle back to the full down position (about 2 inches higher)

Not sure how much the part is or if anyone has had any success with this fix?

hey :)

you broke the white clip? how'd you manage that lol!

I've done this fix TWICE now.. one when I initially wrote that how to, and again when I re-wrote it due to missing pictures.

The only thing I know of people breaking, are the stupidly soft plastic clips in the window tray - they are about 12 pence each from a stealer to replace.. and you can very definitely live without them!
If you take your time and don't force anything - you really are not going to break anything else.

I'm only over in south nottingham if you didn't fancy doing it yourself.. buy me a beer and I'll sort them for you in an hour :)

but seriously.. it's stupidly easy to do, and will definitely sort the problem.

As for buying a replacement motor... you're looking at about £299 for a new system, which are only available via the stealer (euro and GSF dont stock and can't get - looked into it when I wrote this article).
And even with a new motor, you've still got to take those stupid screws out, as well as open the white clip mentioned somewhere up above.

Honestly.. once you've got the motor out, it's like 8 small bolts and a quick wipe with a clean rag!

do it (or pm me, and I'll do it!) :poke:

Good news then, as sounds like it can be fixed quite easily.

Is there much chance of breaking the motor (or any integral parts) completely and having to renew the motor anyway?

I'm ok with mechanical jobs and got plenty of tools so I'm hoping I can fix the problem myself, rather than paying £299 for a new one

A picture guide/thread would also be helpful :)

not really anything that can go wrong... i once pulled the motor itself apart.. which was a pain to put back together thanks to so some small springs inside it.. but it does go back together and there's nothing else you can break.

aren't the pics in my thread working any more?

I'd certainly travel up to south notts and buy you a couple of beers to show me how it's done.... Be in touch if it gets worse
