Wiper action - is this normal?

Thought I'd capture this video whilst I was in the car for another wiper query.

First two wipes were done with a flick of the lever. The 2nd set were done by pushing the lever up 2 click, past the intermittent setting.
Haven't got a video of the car in motion with the wipers on, so can't say whether they'd act differently.
The pictures in the bimmerforums link should walk you through the solution easily enough - if you feel comfortable doing a little easy DIY.

Yes, that's a general solution to a few wiper problems, such as when you switch the wipers off and they sit a couple of inches higher than normal and possibly do a little flick on return.Simn said:"2: Wiperblades are not stopping at the right point, often "parking" a couple of inches up the screen, but reset when you turn car off."

I have flowed the how too. My wipers stop at the correct place but always do a double sweep some time treble sweep. I have taken it apart and cleaned it again still no good. Anyone have any ideas???

Well - took it all apart last night and cleaned it up but still have the same effect.
The inside of my motor looked different to all the instructions i've seen though
I didn't take the white geared wheel out mind you, so I wonder if there is something underneath that needed cleaning too??

It looks almost like a mirror image of the one's in the bimmerforum posts.
Wonder if there's been a design change somewhere along the line.
There's nothing to stop you lifting the white piece up to check if there's more 'gubbins' underneath!
I can't tell you what mine's like as in 80k miles I've not had any issues.

yours isnt as bad as mine. when it rains heavy mine likes to travel back up half a foot from the bottom off the stroke. to lazy to take mine out again and replace it with the one in the garage. does anyone know if the clips on the large piece of plastic that sits across the bottom of the window (part 1 ) can be replaced?

I read somewhere that a sticky relay can cause this (in the back of the fusebox) . there is an upgraded part available from dealers apparently
I have stripped and cleaned mine twice and they still stop where they feel like it
I try and clean my screen when stood still and switch off the ignition when the wipers are at the bottom of their stroke and then they sit there until next time I use them

I had the same problem but followed the link provided and it all seems back to normal.
Ive had a parking issue with my wipers also, im pretty sure it is the gearing inside, whilst i cleaned it i did so with wd40, ive bought some electrical contact cleaner to see if that does the job. Dont take the white gear out and remove all the grease as thats needed for smooth operation. Ive had this annoying problem since i bought the car, but the extended warranty i bought with it doesnt cover the windscreen wipers, which is a little concerning seen as though i need them tod rive safely!!
Well took it all apart again yesterday and I could not get the plastic geared wheel out - must be a friction fit to the output shaft and I didn't want to really attack it as I'd have been left without wipers!!
Cleaned all grease off the top of the wheel and reassembled everything but it's just like it was - wipers return to park in the same place every time but do so after a mini 'dip' down past the park point - this means I can't place the wipers on the spindle really low, as they hit the plastic trim when in normal operation.
I'm not too bothered - it's probably why they changed the design later I would imagine - to sort this issue out.
