Driving to Newark this morning, saw:

2 car collision on Kirkstead Bridge
1 car unintentionally off road (caved in front end) on the Martin staight
1 TNT lorry on its side, off the Martin straight (seperate accident)
Lorry and car collision on A15
2 Car collision just outside Harmston

All caused by black ice and crap driving .... time to put the roadster into winter storage, methinks......
 
Driving 5minutes into work this morning and I saw one audi with a back caved in next to a Peugot 407 with no front - must have just happened as police were just arriving.

Also heard one of the three main routes out of Barrow is going to be closed for an hour later to allow for the recovery of two lorries from a previous collision.

Most of the car ones appeared to be pretty slow speed impacts, checked with my "contacts", and no ambulance was called out to either the lorry or car with caved in front end (police in attendance at each) - the lorry driver was very lucky, looks like he lost it and just drove off the road, without jack-knifing. The car one, I have no idea how anyone walked away from that one, it had nose dived off the road into a field :o
 
All it requires is winter tyres and common sense, unfortunately British people are a little dim in this department!!!
 
My Zed "beeps" at me when the temperature is 3 degrees C .
And there is a flashing temp reminder on the instrument pod just in case my hearing is impaired.
That's to warn me of the dreaded "Black Ice" that according to BMW can form at that temp.
Are British Zeds as well trained ?
 
um perhaps I should get a new set of wheels for winter with tyres?? then i can have the 108's refurbed with new rubbber for spring!! :? :?
 
Oh dear. At least no lasting damage (to the humans). Drove 160 miles Birmingham to Chester and back today and didnt think there was anything exceptional about the conditions. That said, there was one bump on the M6 but that's pretty normal.
 
Winter wheels out and ready to put on the Touran, salt bucket inside front door, snow shovel at front door, note to retrieve car snow shovel from daughter's house, oil stocked up, note to order more wood, Z4 outside and a bit frosty. Touran in garage to make sure the diesel doesn't gel. There'll be crisp winter days to get the Z4 top down... perhaps. What fun. :|
 
I'll be sticking my bag of sand back in the boot as soon as it starts getting frosty in the mornings here, and I reckon I am going to have to cave and put the winters on if the forecast is right. Careful use of the right foot required more than usual from now on, and let's of distance between me and others. Which is how I drive anyway of course :D
