Hi guys, who here is NOT tucking their zed away for winter? and what work do you plan on doing to it over the winter months? I think I'll keep mine on the road but maybe keep it covered for weekend drives rather than daily...

:driving:

Mine will be out baring the cold weather.

- clay bar
- polish
- wax
- raggtopp roof treatment

Then I’ll just top up the wax with every other wash let the weather do it’s worst

There’s loads of mods I’d love to do over the winter, one of which is getting my ///M rear sorted, but I’m not sure that’s on the cards this year

Lovely stuff do you have a piccy of your car? :)

Im having paint correction and ceramic coating, also brake caliper powder coat but undecided on colour. Blue car, what do you think?

In my opinion it's essential to get under the car with a can of ACF50. The brake pipes in particular are vulnerable to corrosion on these cars...

Good shout, will have to look at doing this!

I'll be driving it other than in snow. Some of the best drives are on sunny winter days with the roof down.

Here she is near Domme, France:

Paintings definitely a good idea, Black with silver clips would look good on blue, or I’d see what gold looks like.

100% agree with that. Didn’t really think about winter top down days when I bought it, but they are some of the best as you say.

If you keep those brake pipes sprayed up once a year with white grease they will not rust. I do mine whilst carrying out pre MOT work.

Mine got tucked away today. It’s already getting below 0 here in sweden and the weather is rubbish right now so she’s hibernating until April.

It’s the first time that I have done this, is there any tips for leaving a car garaged for so long?

I’m not intending to put mine away for the whole winter. I thoroughly enjoy a bright, crisp winter day blast, so would miss out on this if the car went into hibernation. I draw the line at driving on wet, or damp gritted roads. I hate the thought of all that salt coating the underside of the car and quietly corroding away.

Will keep the car taxed and will continue to use her on dry sunny days as long as the roads remain salt free. I love those Winter drives with the top down, the heated seats on and the heating turned up. Made a note to treat the brake pipes.thanks for that suggestion. :D

Mine lives in a nice warm garage roof down. Comes out on every occasion the roads are dry and free of salt. :driving: Only additional maintenance is, the battery charger gets plugged in, if I have not driven her for more than a week or so. :)

That’s the great thing about sweden, I can turn off the tax and turn down the insurance all from an app on my phone :)

Well as I have nowhere to tuck mine up it'll be getting used on and off, but not if we get snow or ice. Will avoid gritted roads too.

No issue with the rear brake pipes as mine are now copper! :D

Forecast is for 4 months of snow although that may not happen.

Next week....
Car is getting the roof cleaned
Washed, clayed, polished, waxed then prepped for a ceramic coating.
Calipers painted and an interior valet.

If it is 4 months of snow then it'll be in the garage and used on after the salt washes away and it's dry.

Will mostly be using the Steptronic Corsa with a whole firebreathing 79bhp and 4 cylinders of awesomeness. 0 - 60 Monday to Friday! It's pretty bad!

i'll be using the car over the winter... cheap time of the year to do trackdays! planning donington early nov and Bedford December, then probably Bedford again in January/February since that's the best track to go to when the weather is poor.
