winter woes and trailer trash

a few days ago i was headed down the highway when some dingus lost a very large 4x4 board off of his trailer which my z promptly ate (mad about this but it could have been much worse) so the wheels are bent and cracked now but at the time when we were waiting for the tow truck to arrive the motor was running just fine and i could nether smell or see any fluid leakage. today how ever when i showed up at the repair shop to properly document the damage for peace of mind and sign some paperwork, it now looks like my radiator fluid is very low (correct me if im wrong because im unfamiliar with the marker) and the motor sounds like it's not firing on one cylinder, so a whole new slew of problems seems to be developing along with new worries. so any advice would be welcome on how to handle the situation.

Bad news indeed! What's with people that think because something stays in place while stationary under a quick test wiggle will stay in place on the highway?

I'm unfamiliar with that sort of indicator. There's a float on mine who's end is even or above the filler neck. There's also a platform retaining the float a couple inches down that would normally be just covered with fluid. Not sure that's any help, but at least I tried. :)

I think that unless you can find physical damage relating to these new issues, it'll be hard to make a case against the 4x4, if the claim is questioned. But it needs to be fixed, and some things aren't questioned.

Looks like you can see the tip of the float for your coolant. That should be above the filler neck. There are two intermittent spots that show when you're in range of the full lines, pretty much acts like a bobber indicator. Tough situation man i feel your pain. I remember my wife telling me once she was behind a truck dropping loose bricks out the back luckily only had minor under bumper scrapes.
