Standard tyres are all season and one thing they are not, and that is for all seasons

Difference with driving with proper winters on an X5 is enormous, Ie it makes it a proper 4x4 on snow instead of a heavy sledge.

Perhaps make a wooden "hub" on each board, so you can secure the wheels to the boards, and use the hoist to build a "dumb waiter" type arrangement, so you can push the wheels out when they are at the attic level?

Been thinking about something similar, as I have two sets to store, and rolling them up the stairs is a pain.

@sars- during the bad winters, the X5 is the only car we use, so it automatically includes parental ferrying about :lol:

@john and Mark- as this exactly in the middle of a 4 bay garage, I have some space on the other side, so might bridge the gap to "rail" the trolley over the gap to the other side when empty.

I don't know how the summer wheels will fit there at the moment as they are huge.

Problem for next year ....

The building is fully open at the front and only half of the ceiling is boarded so I assume there is plenty of airflow.

Doing the floor next with resin as the dust from the concrete is horrendous.

I wished I had the space to be honest, I did think of getting one of those lockable plastic garden storage boxes for the winter wheels but decided all seasons were a decent compromise for the Z3.
