Winter wheels on today

Finally got the winters on that I picked up from Kermit a few months ago.
And in typical fashion was cold and dry yesterday but I ran out of time and it was cold and wet today :(
Persevered though...wheels changed, pressures checked,etc.....test drive tomorrow...wasn't far off hypothermia by the time I'd finished
Running a 10mm spacer on rear
8x18 rims...sorry didn't note the offset
225 Dunlop winters

They look kool, interesting on your feedback

I was thinking up doing the swop over this weekend - but its still mild in the midlands

Thought about fitting mine to the E46 on Friday (it was really cold even down here) but I didn't.

Now I am glad I didn't as the temperature looks like it is up a bit for a few days.

Hi being a newbie what's the advantage of changing to winter tyres and the what are winter tyres??
Welcome harvchan. Forum decorum to make an introduction to yourself and zed
Re winter tyres its like comparing chalk and cheese and there are plenty of youtube vids extolling the virtues of using them.
I would certainly recommend them especially in snow and ice.
The increased grip on ice and snow comes from the cuts or 'sipes' in the tread blocks and softer compound rubber.
A worthwhile investment in many peoples opinion....

It's basic physics - the rubber of the winter tyres has a high silicon content and remains soft in lower temperatures . Thus the co-efficient of friction of friction is higher.

I would say that once you've driven on winters you won't go without again.

Put winters on on Saturday and now it's 12 degrees!

Same here,-5°C in the middle of last week and drove home from Perth @9pm tonight and it was showing temp as 14°C.....most unseasonal 8)
Car drives much better than on Bridgestone run flats and that's a comparison with Dunlop winters which have been pre-used.Because it's a "square" set-up I've got on now I've no way of knowing how the wheels were fitted to Kermits car so more than likely they're being used in a differant orientation so will "wear" in to their present fitment.Feel fine though and definately less darty/twitchy and that was a slow run into town & back.

Never thought about that Jim :headbang: I had them in wheel bags & marked up where they where fitted as well. Sorry

No worries man, totally my own doing.....never even looked to see if they were directional when I put them on due to the weather.
Only thought about it the next evening on my 1st drive.....TBH they're not showing any signs of wearing in a particular wheel orientation....it's probably just that they sound different to what I'm used to.
