Winter wax

Hi zedders, it's been several months since my car had some wax applied so thought I would take advantage of the sunshine & do just that, can't remember what it's called but it's the same stuff that mr wilks uses (mirror wax or something) should help to protect the paint from the harsh winter weather.
Took a couple of arty shots involving Mrs smartbears z3 complete with hardtop grazing at smartbear towers :)

mmmmm shiny want to come and do mine? its a complete s**t tip at the mo. i seem to collect dirt. doesnt help that there is so much building work etc so im always going through some sort of mud
 
looking good. done mine the other day, full clay bar polish and 2 coats of wax.. (first tiem done this car)

BMs have such nice paint to work with,
cars both looking brillant mate :thumbsup:
 
I dont know what kind of winter conditions you do have in the UK. Here scandinavia i am using FK1000p sealant. It lasts 2-3 months if you wash regurally with premium car shampoo.

Today i just waxed my fathers E46 with fk1000p.

I've been using Collinite 476s for the last couple of years. Put it on thin with a moist foam pad and a little goes a long way! Buffs off easily too.
It seems to last ages, still beads after 6 months when using Chemical Guys wash and wax.
 
476 is quite a dull wax (granted it's hard wearing). Try 845 insulator from Collinite. Better looks and easier on/off.

I personally use Reload all year around. Glass coating and looks fantastic. Also beads very well, helping self cleaning in the dirtier months.
 
Guys since buying my Z I have read the posts on detailing with interest.

Over the years I have just used Auto Glym products - namely the Super Resin Polish & the Extra Gloss Protection.

Would you recommend I continue using the SRP and replace the Gloss Protection with a good quality wax or is GP stuff as good as any wax

Collys waxes are well thought of in the US and Canada where they have very harsh winters and lots of salt and grit on their roads
