Am hoping for some suggestions for winter driving the z4 E89.
and where to buy either in Europe or the UK.

Thanks for any advice.

Well I can only relate to my experience of them, but all on 3 Series - my Z4 doesn't go out in winter weather!

I had 205/50 x 16 Michelin Alpin winters on my E46 and they were fine in colder damp conditions, but over the 3 winters I had it there wasn't any snow! Because it was an E46 they weren't run-flats because it didn't have any sort of Tyre Pressure Warning System.

Then I had run-flat Bridgestone Blizzaks (also 205/50 x 16) on the 325i I bought a week before the Beast from the East and they were just brilliant even in the snow.

Now I've got 225/45 x 17 Hankook I Cept Evo run-flats on my current E90 and they seem OK so far, although no snow down here yet.

Personally I'd probably stick to run-flats - I can't imagine how miserable it would be trying to change a wheel when it's cold, wet, possibly dark and there may even be now on the ground!

I can't suggest where to get them (unless someone is selling a set on here) but the size you want may have a bearing on brand options and prices. Where you expect to be using the car may also be a factor - we don't often get really bad winter conditions in most of the UK.

thank you very much for the info hopefully someone can suggest where I can get them. Am wondering about buying a set of wheels as well. They are 19inch at the moment.

I'd definitely get another set of wheels - it's so much easier to just swap wheels twice a year than get tyres swapped over! You aren't going to fit 4 tyres in a Z4 to go to the tyre shop, and you can't really take all 4 wheels off at the same time.

Plus tyres will be cheaper if you don't need 19s.

Maybe something like these:- https://z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=118731

I'm pretty sure a 17" wheel will fit a 28i - but hopefully someone will be able to confirm.

If you're prepared to do some messing about yourself these can be cheap https://www.tyreleader.co.uk/

You pays your money and takes your choice these continentals are very very good and a good balance for uk winter conditions but aren’t the cheapest but these guys have a good price..

I’ve used them on the z4 and Mini Cooper sd and they were brilliant on the typical cold damp slimey uk roads...not the absolute best for deep winter snow where they are edged out by the Finnish brands but again UK most days it’s 1c-8c cold n damp
