Just got winter tyres but not on the car yet........
Thought it would be interesting to have a thread which tells us when they are put on....

So perhaps make of tyre and whether on/off would be good.

I'll start

Bridgstone Blizzak - Not on yet.

I would say fitting them around now would be a good call.

Daytime temps are starting to creep below 10C and overnight around freezing. Your runflats performance will degrade significantly below 5 to 7C as the already hard compound will get even harder as temps drop .

I've got Vredestein Quadrac 3 all seasons on the Z3 and worked like a dream last winter in 6" of snow. What opened my eyes when swapping the E89 for the Z3 2 weeks ago was how squishy and grippy the all seasons are over the runflats. Kinda glad I went for the all seasons over full winters as it meant I could still use the Z3 OK over the summer when needed :)

I,ve been running winters all year on my Astravan , Fulda Kristal Supremo,s
Being front wheel drive the grip is much better into bends plus i like the way they feel on wet motorways & haven,t found them wearing any faster than standard rubber over the last 7000miles
Have all season Pirelli Scorpion Verde,s on our X3 & they look & feel like a summer tyre but grip like a winter in the wet so can,t fault them either

Got a set of winter wheels with Pirelli Sotto Zero tyres on via Mr Wilks a few months ago, there going on tomorrow :)

Mr Fin had this idea last year and picked it up again recently -

Mine are not on yet, but will be by tomorrow or Monday. Well chilly now, and the ground temp will definitely be below 7 degrees most of the time. Avon Ice Touring - not the most dynamic of tyres, but are on their 3rd winter

We have a set of 17" winter wheels that fit both the Alpina and the F20 daily driver and they'll be going on the F20 soon but I don't think it's reached that point yet - however, we're on the south coast so we usually lag a few weeks behind those of you north of Watford

Sending ours off for refurb this week. (The wheels, not the tyres) On next weekend, if it's this cold, as the rears were trying to go in a different direction from the fronts this morning.....
Second hand from Our Wonderful Website; Vredestein Wintrac Xtreme.
And for those who were wondering, Yes, they are the staggered set-up.

I got a staggered winter set of alloys and tyres from Mr Wilks which were fitted last weekend :D

Front tyres are Avon Ice Touring and rears are Michelin Alpin

Falken HS-439's staggered. Been on a few weeks now. Glad of them today at 3 degrees (air temp - ground probably colder) this morning in heavy rain on fast country roads.

Dunlop SP Winter Sport 3Ds
Put them on last week. Almost couldn't get the car up the drive to move it to its Winter home even with the snow tyres! The roads near my home are pretty much 4WD only in the Winter. Winter started a bit early this year.

Goodyear ultra grip 7+ winter tyres fitted on my old BMW 320 ES wheels (156 wheels) tyre size 205 55 16 H

Went out of a spin, its my first time without run flats, transformed the ride. New tires going on the summer wheels before they go anywhere near my car again.

First time I had non RFTs was when I put winters on 2 years ago - was also instantly converted

Mine are not on yet - car needs cleaned first and I hate changing my wheels as I don't have a low profile jack... So I procrastinated and got the wife's car valeted instead

Just ordered 4 Michelin Alpine PA4 tyres and a set of OEM wheels to put them on. Hope these all arrive in next couple of weeks as car was useless in the snow the last 2 winters. They'll be going on as soon as they arrive.

I phoned up Direct Line this evening to make sure they know I have changed the wheels for ones with winter tyres on and the poor woman said she'd never dealt with so many people doing the same in one day

She said it felt like the whole of Scotland just put winter tyres on - do you lot up there know something we don't :? :D
