Winter tyre size query

Anyone know what the maximum profile height I can get away with on 16" wheels without interfering with E85 (M-Sport) suspension?

Have some 225x55xR16 Nokian WR-A3's left over from Audi TT and intend to fit them to a set of BMW Style 30'S (7x16 ET46). Wondering if I'll encounter any issues...
Is our resident expert Mr. Wilks paying attention at the back there? :D
Mr Wilks, you already advised in an earlier thread that 225x50xR16's would be fine if not a bit titchy but would be interested to explore if the extra 5mm rolling radius would be pushing my luck. Any idea on clearance from coil bottom mount?

wheel-size.com says max for 'US market 3.0i' is 225/50R16 @ 7Jx16 ET47
and max for 'EU market 3.0si' is 225/55R16 @ 7Jx16 ET47

Those sizes will be fine, unless you have 3.0si front brakes, which don't fit under 16'' wheels.

What springs do you have on your Z4?

I can't see any reason why 225 55 16 won't fit your Z but on a 7j rim the sidewall is going to look pretty "puffy" :( its the max width recommended for that size rim , if you already have the tyres + rims why not just try one out :?

Thanks chaps! Helps a lot. Will be trying next weekend so i'll throw up some pics in case this post helps others.

The rims i'm referring to already have a set of slightly smaller 225x50 winter tyres on them and currently reside on my old e36 coupe. There is no way 225x55's would fit the coupe however as there is absolutely minimal clearance from the bottom spring mount and i always used to hear snow sludging away if i drove through a slushy drift etc.
Hence, concern re clearance on the zed.
I'll suck it and see......
Edit: just invested in a pair of 20mm rear spacers which may help atleast the rears.
Will leave on when 108's go back on next march.
