As for night-time top-down driving RickH - give it a go, it's ace, especially on a clear starry night.
+1000. If anyone's not tried top-down driving in the dark, you really must - it's great, especially on clear nights.

(added bonus is nobody can see you've got the top down so minimises the yells of "nob" from the great unwashed)

... try and steer clear of the gritter lorries though, the ones round here seem to shoot the grit out at head hight!!!

this is what winter tires are for .........
you have grip to go and stop in conditions like this.
Here in Norway they dont salt the roads, just go up and down now and again with a snow plough. Fair enough Im in a 4 wheel drive, but the others are not and just 5 mins before this I saw a 3.0 Z4 (roadster of course) zipping past ............

That's proper - it was like that up through Glendevon and on towards Crieff last Christmas when we went to visit my grandparents in Comrie. Beautiful.

Meant to say after your first vid - I love your grumpy satnav

Now that's proper snow, thinking of swapping out my winter wheels because its so mild :)

I want a smiley playing a drum set - couple of snare smacks and a symbol ending for that would've been perfect

I sh*t thee not ......... this is the main road Norway/Sweden and the average speed these guys are driving is 45 mph ....... trucks included.
These are the conditions that Winter tires are made for ......

So the new thread on winters has prompted this post - temps have been heading back up here, and my car's been getting a little skittish on my winters as it's too warm for them (forecast is 16 degrees here tomorrow :o )... Anyone thinking of changing back yet, or do you reckon we're not out the woods yet ? Is it worth keeping them on for another month or so whilst the weather is pretty wet ? Just interested as it's my first time going post-op :P

Bing, mine's been feeling a little floaty lately - warmer and damp. Part of my problem is the geo setup - a lot of negative camber, they didn't feel this skittish last year. Think I'll switch back any day now, or after my holiday.

I don't know the science of the tyres, but I suspect putting the power down when it's a little warmer will accelerate the wear, so while they are still on and it's warmer I try and be a little lighter on the throttle.

Close to putting my normal wheels back on the wife's car, I can't remember the last journey we did were it was under 7 degrees up here in Scotland.

I changed backlast night. Decided summers would be more appropriate for this weekend's forum drive given the forecast temps. Of course, last year I swapped back to summers and it promptly snowed within the week, so what do I know
