Any recommendations

The three I have in mind:

1. Toyo Snowprox - £118 from Mytyres

2. Yokahama W drive £131 from Mytyres

3. Sure bet Pirelli W 240 Sottozero S2 £141 from Mytyres.

I have looked at Camskill too, but for winter tyres mytyres seem a little cheaper. I assume V rating is also ok as I will not be going over 149 on the snow?

I am running a E89sdrive30i. thanks!

The tyre speed rating should match the cars abilities I would expect an insurance company to cry 'invalid insurance" if the rating is wrong. It is probably worth asking your insurance company to confirm, and in writing.

Andi.

i got falken for my winters.

Much cheaper on mytyres then camskill.

The best reviews went to the vreds though.. but i couldnt find anywhere in stock of them in Sept.

Normally I would quite agree. But no winter tyres are available on anything beyond V, same with camskill. I will call BMW today to check. But I would imagine it just get's a slower speed rating allowance as it is a winter tyre.

I take you mean these ones (£125 each :))

I have Avon Ice Touring on my winter rims, did me just fine last winter.

As for speed rating - I mentioned this to Direct Line and they were fine with it, as they agreed that I wouldn't be going 130mph in the winter. Didn't charge an admin fee to change the policy either. I think if you had an accident at 140mph they'd be more coursed on your speed as a get-out clause than specifically the speed rating of your tyres...
