Winter tires or all season?

Hey there. just picked up a lightly used 2020 z4 m40i. I'm looking for 'winter' tires but I'm thinking what I really probably would be best with is all season tires. I'm in WA state where it's typically 30'ish to 45'ish Fahrenheit over the winter. Lots of rain. A little snow but only very occasionally. If it snows or there is ice, I'll just drive my pickup instead of the car.

I was thinking about these: Goodyear EAGLE EXHILARATE. They get great marks for road noise are pretty good for wet/dry traction as well.

I've mostly used Michelin Pilot Sport 4S recently. They get tiny bit better wet/dry traction but not as good on noise.

Thoughts? Other ideas? thx!

sounds more like you want a summer that has good wet weather performance.. Uniroyal Rainsports perhaps, although i hated the noise levels Goodyear F1 Assymetric 5s were incredible in the rain, if noise is a high priority then Dunlop Sportsmaxx Rt2.
If you want a genuine all season though I love my Michelin Cross Climates on my daily.. even in the worst downpours the car is so assured and it honestly feels like you are driving on dry road, they handle icy surfaces brilliantly too and you can genuinely press on in summer with no degradation to handling. If my zed was a daily I would have no hesitation putting them on and using year round

Thanks. I’ll look into those

I flipped between Michelin Cross-Climate+/Cross-Climate2 (same name in US) and Bridgestone WeatherControl A005 (don't know the US equivalent) on my daily drivers (Alfa 147 JTDm and e46 330D) as summer-biased all-seasons, but the more winter-biased Goodyear Vector 3 (on't know the US equivalent) is supposed to be as good as or better than both - but I've not read much about its longevity.

If you're more interested in the dry/wet/above-zero performance, then the Michelin AllSeason4 or the Eagle Exhilarate is probably better for summer/wet use (we don't get those tyre options in the UK), whereas the M+S rated tyres will be better in dry/wet/cold/slush/snow.

If you're still looking for high-performance all-seasons, then Tyre Reviews have recently done their latest all-season UHP tyre test.
