Winter storage

Ventilation is key to keep corrosion & mold away. So no waterproof/airtight cover of any kind, rather no cover at all. If any, a stretch cover of the Richbrook indoor type is ok but then the car needs to be absolutely clean and no big (wind) drag in the garage to move it around. Been there done that... :( Also, a decent "dry-ball" to keep moist inside away.
Trickle charger is nice (but whats the worst that could happen? Dead battery? Just buy a new one)
Rust? Thats pretty much car-cancer, this and mold is really what you want to avoid.

For the engine, rather freshly changed oil/filter. Or, if you've had a long journey before packing up, its consumed the different acids etc in the engine oil, then its ready for long hibernation, no need for starting up during winter etc that's bonkers. If you do, letting it run standing still is no problem, cars have cooling systems incl fans to do this. Its not "horses for corses" or opinions, its fact.
Take the wheels off or have it on stands to save the tires getting flats.

If you live in a wet climate, sure. I seal up my cars when they are clean and dry and have never had any problems with mold or rust.
