Winter storage

I plan to SORN my car over winter for at least 4/5 months in my garage and was wondering what people do to prevent flat spotting the tyres? Do people just role it 6 inches backwards or forwards each month or do nothing? How long does it take to get flat spots on your tyres if the car isn’t being moved?

Hi SiJar,
Mine has been hibernating 5 to 7 months in a warm garage, never had an issue with flat spotting tyres.

...some winters I have had a newspaper under the tyres to prevent them sticking to the floor paint.

I always increase the pressure in mine to 43-45 psi. SORN'd it for 4 months the last few years without issue. I put a CTek on too via the engine compartment connectors.

Very much a combination of what others have said... CTEK trickle charger... I put the tyre pressures to 50psi (18” ///M wheels... and then roll forward and back without starting the engine (to avoid cold starts and premature wear)... finally, unless you have temperature controlled garage, I’ve always used silica bags to stop moisture/damp build up. They’re relatively inexpensive and can be dried out on the radiator at the end of winter. I also used a soft indoor cover last year to stop dust buildup on panelwork... but I would advice against this if you’re going to have the cover off more than once a month, as the small scratching fitting and removal causes out ways said benefit. Know this is more than the question posed, but hope it provides useful insight ☺️
