wing mirror

Since I have moved to my new house I park my Zed on a shared drive (Polo has the garage as just too small for the Zed), for fear of the neighbours bashing their Range Rover into the Zed I have been folding up my left wing mirror. Unfortunately, twice now I have driven off with it folded up and had to pull over on the dual carriageway to put it down before getting onto motorway. Is there a function that I can switch on to get a sign that my wing mirrors are folded in when I start the car? It is also rather annoying that I can't control putting them down from the cockpit. Do I ask silly questions?

Unless you have power fold mirrors the car has no sensor that tells it that the mirrors are folded - you'll just have to get in the habit of looking over to your left hand mirror when leaving home...

...or park facing the other way round so you have to fold in the drivers mirror - you should spot that it's folded when you get in the car

You could just reverse the direction you normally park, and whilst it won't make you remember, it will be possible to flip it down without stopping.

If you are willing to accept my mother as a permanent passenger, she will notice... every time.

Also is there any need folding the mirrors in on our cars?

Folded down they bearly extent past the rearwheel arch :? So while stopping them getting smashed what about the rear metal?

This is probably the best idea although I never like parking my car forwards..there isn't a great amount of space for a good angle in forwards and I may hit the front :o (as I know from experience). Also I like walking up to my house with car facing me..it's more aesthetically pleasing :)
