Wing mirror trim (?) removal

So, I'll be honest, I'm not sure what this bit is called but I'm trying to see how I can remove the bit of black plastic that the wing mirror attaches to on the door.
I tried searching A pillar trim but that shows results for the interior trim.

If anyone know how to remove this piece (and what it's called) I'd appreciate it so I can get it sprayed up and remove the dull and faded black plastic look.

Think it needs to come off with the whole mirror

Pop the interior trim or tweeter pod off
Unclip harness/wires
Unbolt 3 bolts

You should end up with this once it’s off the car and stripped down

This is what I'm looking for. It helps to know what it looks like off the car, thanks.
So the wing mirror and the interior speaker needs to come off. Nice one thanks.
Still debating whether masking everything off or popping these pieces off will be easier for painting...

If you are going to spray it I’d say get it off

It’s worth the faff to do it properly over doing it in situ and risking overspray

I'll take them off so! I took the grilles out last weekend and I definitely think it came out better than they would have if I left them in the bumper.

Before you get into spraying, have you tried the below:

It's worked a treat on several I have done and I think others have used it as well.

Here is a pic of mine from a few years back. Screenshot_20210423-111752_Instagram.jpg

Thanks for the advice mate. I've looked at trim restoring but in the end I went with just plastidipping the bits that were worn or dulled.
I will admit yours do look good. Have they held up?
I have a few bits to do and for the price and result I decided to go for spraying them. I've done the kidney grilles and they came out very nicely.

I've also had good results with Gtechniq on dull black plastic - much easier than removal and painting!

If you're doing a few bits then why not get them all sprayed for consistency.

Mine have held up really well, but tbf it lives in a garage with a cover on. I did the Mrs' and hers is outside. 12 months on and they could do with a small top up....if you're being really picky (which I am).

Yeah I am spraying all of it. That's sorta what I meant. Doing the wing mirror bits, spoiler, roll hoop covers, interior door handles, steering wheel trims, washer fluid jets and the trim piece that sits at the base of the windshield under the wiper blades.
So full whack of painting to do!

Hi Stuart - is changing the mirror assembly as simple as this? Any tips on “popping off” the interior trim?

I used this one. To remove the mirror you need to remove the sound deadening (the wiring is behind this). So whole doorcard will need to come off. Straight forward enough.

Thanks Kis, I’ll have a go.
