Wing mirror snapped off

Hi all,

Have put a couple of posts up recently as trying to get my z4 back on the road after not really driving it since last summer. Got a few little problems I was working through and then came out this morning to find someone has snapped off my door mirror. Bit disheartening but have read through the other posts for people who have had this but have a few questions.

Have people found that the q-bond fix lasts?

Can I keep the colour matched shell and just replace the internals if I find a unit at a breakers? Seemed to be some people were saying this was possible.

Is it worth going through the insurance as I imagine BMW would charge a lot to repair this?

How easy is this to replace? I can do basic stuff but don’t want to get into anything too heavy.

Utter bast*rds! :x Bet you'd like to hit them with a bat or something. Just looked on Ebay and there's quite a few complete wing mirrors for sale £135 - £165 each. None your colour that I could see but you can just change the mirror housing over. The problem is what's to stop the tossers doing it again ?

Nothing unfortunately. Sunday morning and find the driver side has been snapped off last night

As much as I hope you can get your car fixed, it may be a plan to not rush.

There is literally one neighbour who I may have annoyed. He blocked my car in a couple of time and I put a note on his windscreen asking him not to block me in. That was at Christmas so he might have waited a while and now he’s getting me back. My house is set away from the road but I’m thinking of q-bonding the wing mirrors back on and running a cable from my house along the back of some fences to where I could see the road and then put my car back there next weekend as bait
