Wing Mirror Re-Spray

Hi All,

Hope someone can help, or has had previous experience of this...

Some idiot caused me to take avoiding action this morning meaning I smacked my Z4M Coupe's Passenger Wing mirror... :headbang:

Fortunately the damage is only cosmetic (still gutted!) but I was keen to understand what it has cost any of you to re-spray a mirror and whether any of you have taken the cover off?

BMW have quoted £55.80 for painting it and £33 or more ( they need to see car to tell) for labour. All would be subject to VAT. So was thinking if I could take the cover off it would save me the labour?

Its a Silver Grey Z4M Coupe, 56 plate.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

Jez.

welcome to the forum...

no idea about your question though. At least it is just the mirror housing.

My local bodyshop charged £10 to spray the headlamp washer cover recently...

Can you not get a replacement cover from ebay or something in your colour?

Never had the cover off myself but sure it would be easy to do, have a look on the US forums they usually have more experience in such areas.

Google a breakers. Same happened to me with my last MINI. I got a nearly-new cover (actually, the whole mirror!) from a breakers for next to nothing!

Thanks Guys, will check out ebay as well as google for breakers!

Once all sorted I'll get round to posting some pics!

My wife damaged her wing mirror, scoring the plastic housing. I got a new unit from ebay (£20, new and unpainted) and the local bodyshop charged £35 to paint it. However, I a still having fun (?) trying to remove the glass from the on-car unit, so that I can get at the rest of the fixings. So I have a perfectly painted nearside mirror housing sitting in a box.
