Wing Mirror Glass

Hi all

Problem number 2 today and only day 2 of ownership.

Mirror glass fell out and after using the guide found on here I can't for the life of me see a plastic bayonet lug to switch across??

Apologies for the shocking photo but can anyone tell if this is what I should be seeing or if it has been bodged before?

Thanks!

What's the issue dude?

The back plate is what gets hot, most people just stick a halfords/ebay glass to the front of that and all is well? Take a few pics from further away. Bit of bad luck there!

Ah right. I assumed I had to remove the backing plate to fit the new one as the remains of mine has a layer of foam which I guess was the original adhesive.

This was the guide -

Someone needs to check if the wiring is there (if you already have dimming interior mirror).. bagsy not..

My advice would be to remove the foam best as possible and fit over it mate. I believe that's what every one else does.

Iirc, when I did mine the bayonet was accessed from the bottom edge.

Three advantage of taking it off is that you stand a good chance of glueing the heater pad onto the back of the new glass. Whereas sticking a new one on top with foam pads.....
