Can anybody help

I have lost the mirror glass on my wifes 05 Alpina Roadster, I have managed to remove the backing plate and locking ring, more by brute force than knowledge, but nothing looks broken or snapped thank god!

I would like to know how this all goes back together as I can't see exactly how it all fits, a link to some diagrams/pics would be great.

I had bought a new mirror with heated backing plate off ebay when I found out how much the stealers wanted for the OE bit £110+ Vat !, but the heating connections were completely the wrong side of the mirror and cables won't reach and the clips look nothing like the original, so that is going back to the seller who called it a direct replacement in the listing, but who pointed out that his listing says the terminals are on the nearside not offside of the backing plate.... much further down in the listing... which of course you don't find out until you have removed it, having got the replacement in your hand!.... I suggest this is a wrongly manufactured batch.

Now ordered just a glass to stick back on the backing plate with some for of super adhesive!

All help gratefully received!

Sorry to hear your first post is to report a problem.

Glass can be ordered on eBay for a small sum. Some members have used super glue to stick the glass on, others have used sticky pads. Both have merits.

Would be great to see some pics of the Alpina in the newbies section.

Welcome to the forum

Yep lost mine too, got a new one off flea bay , cant remember how much but it wasnt a lot, best thing is to stick it on with mirror adhesive, as certain solvents/ sticky pads break down the silver backing
