Wing mirror glass - how much glue to use?

Last week my wing mirror glass was wobbling about on the motorway, so I pulled over and yanked it off, it was only held off by a tiny blob of glue. Having seen other threads it seems like a common issue.

Anyway, I've bought some heat resistant glue (for oven glass) so I can stick it back onto the black plate. Question is, how much glue should I use?

I was thinking of doing a large circle around the outside edge of the glass, and then a few blobs in the middle.

Sounds about right to me. Although dont go too near the edge of the glass in case it splurges outwards when you offer up the glass to the back plate.
And try to clamp gently after positioning it while the glue cures. give it 2 hours.

I avoided the glue method as if it ever breaks again, you'll have a hell of a job removing the glue.
I like many others used silicon sealant. Done this on my old E85 and it never budged.

This happened on mine, so i swapped the entire unit out from www.less4spares.com cost me £10 per side:
