Windshield Replaced, Rain Sensor Not Working

I had my windshield replaced a few weeks ago and now it seems that my rain sensor doesn't work properly. Could someone please explain the normal function of the rain sensor and how it is turned on? I believe it is the first click up on the stick and it should then wipe when the rain hits?...Anyway, is it possible that something needs to be reset electronically if the sensor was unplugged? Not sure what could be the problem. The company came our and replaced the whole windshield again and fiddled with it to see if they could get it going, but it never seemed to work.

Thanks!

Yes, one position up for autos. Do your lights come on in rain if both lights and wipers are in auto?
Speed adjustable with the four position switch on the front of the stalk, up is faster. Fuses?
If fuses are ok and lights come on as above, then it's the fitters/duff part.

Talksthetorque, before the installation of the new windshield, yes, the lights would come on when the windshield wipers were on. I will have to check next time it rains to see if the lights come on, even if the wipers don't. I checked the fuse, it was intact.

I guess it is possible they pulled too hard on the wiring when unhooking it from the windshield? I don't really know.

Well, it was too dark here to test if the lights came on with the wipers on auto as the lights came on right away with the car. But I did push the stalk up one click and poured water on the sensor...and no response from the wipers. Damn.

Had a new windscreen on my 5 series last year. Rain sensor stopped working, but discovered they'd dislodged an electrical connector in the sensor. Remove the cover and look to see if there's anything obviously wrong.
