Windshield Cleaning Pump

Back a few days ago riding down a highway I tried to clean some fresh bugs off of the windshield. The washer fluid was barely coming out of the nozzles so I thought that I was almost out of fluid. When I went to fill up the container I noticed it was over half full. I checked the nozzles on top of the hood to see if they were clogged but I am pretty sure they aren't. I know the wash pump is not dead since I hear it run when activated. It seems like the pump is a bit noisier than it used to be. Hopefully a new wash pump will fix the problem. Anyone had similar woes?

Not on the Z4...

On my wife's Citroen Saxo, yes and it was the pump - cost me £12.50 and some mucky jeans to replace :)

I seriously just had that same issue last week. haha
There's a little filter that goes between the tank and the pump, mine was clogged with what looked like gum.

Basically, the tank is held in by one screw near the strut mount, so dettach the connector from the pump, pull the tank out (it's awkwardly shaped so this is kind of hard) and then pull the pump away from the tank, you'll see a little black seal around the hole the pump sucks water through, thats attached to the filter, so pull the little black seal out and clean the filter, pop everything back in and you should be good!

That was exactly the problem. I was able to remove the filter without pulling the tank out, but I managed to waste about 1/3 of washer fluid. I was able to plug the hole with my finger while I cleaned off the gunk with my other hand. All fixed. Z4-Forum to the rescue again!

me too, same problem occurred this week - bizarre - jets pressure right down.

on z4m I was able to unclip a pastic shield around the vdo pump, unplug the connector, take off the pipe to jets, remove pump from tank and then pull out the black filter on bottom of tank, tis dumps the the fill on the road. filer was junked up with wierd black crap... washed it of and put it all back - perfect. jets thrashing water out now.
