So be honest am i looking at a new windscreen. A stone flicked up from a car overtaking on a dual carigeway. Its smooth to touch inside and outside. Ive never had this on a chip before.

Is it bigger than 2 pound coin? If so, yes.

Where is it located? It looks as if it's in the drivers line of sight, above the steering wheel. In which case, definitely a new screen.

No big deal, insurance covers it. You just pay the excess. Usually £75.

About the size of a 20p just off to the right of being directly in my line of sight. Its the crack going off it i dont like the look of.

Probably knocked the inside of the outer layer of glass out hence smooth to the touch.

I'd pay the £75 or so and get a new screen regardless of if it's in a critical vision area.

Many folks seem to recommend supplying your own oem seal for neatest fit

Where would i get a seal fast? Got "national windscreen services" coming tommorow. Are They expensive. As ever cheers for helping guys.

Dealers - should be over the counter.

I seem to recall reading £50-£55, but thankfully not needed one myself for years.

Yes it's a lot of money for a seal, but I've seen very poor fit on aftermarket with wiggly seals down the sides.

The aftermarket seal I had installed with my latest windscreen is actually a lovely fit.

The one I had before that split at the corners and they replaced it with a genuine BMW one.

If anything goes wrong, just get them to take the screen out and replace the seal.

Cheers thats reassuring. I couldnt get one from BMW in time. Was £25 but they had none in stock in the uk and was a weeks wait from germany.

Anyone heard of Nationwide windscreen services?

Screen sorted. Great guy fitted it really i to cars. Good to have people who enjoy there job. No horrible mark where the tax disk used to go. Shame i already put my fourum sticker on the back window.
