Windscreen wipers not returning to neutral

Hi all,

I tried to search the forum for an answer but couldn't find anything about this issue. Hopefully this isn't a first and someone has a solution..

After I use my wipers, whether on auto or giving them a flick, they no longer return to their neutral position. They come to a rest about 1-2 inches higher than they should, resting on the clear windscreen instead of the blacked out area at the bottom. The wipers still function fine. :?

Has anyone else experienced this & can offer a solution?

Worth noting: The car spent 5/6 years garaged, during which it never even saw rain, so now being an everyday car I think it's starting to go into shock! lol (I now have an airbag light on too! Grr!)

Thanks all,

Tris

I knew I couldn't have been the first to have this problem..

Thank you good sir, that appears to be the solution I was looking for - zero cost involved! ;)

I'll give his guide a go on the weekend. Keeping my fingers crossed that I don't have any nightmare bolts etc!

Thanks again!

I did mine when i got it and its started to do it again but thats been over a year so not bad. Just be careful when you lift up the plastic panel as the clips are very fragile and can snap.

Cheers for the pointers lads - after reading some of the replies I'm a little nervous about doing it. Seems to be pot luck as to whether or not it is a simple 30 minute job or not!

I might pop down the local BMW dealer and get my hands on some replacement clips before I start - just so I'm covered If I do snap a few! ;)
