Windscreen washer jets

Anyone tell me how do I adjust these, water spray is too low. I've only ever seen little round things before that I adjusted with a pin. Mine are like this.
Thanks

You may find they are slightly blocked, try blowing down them and see if it improves, if not get a new set.

Also check the reservoir tank is not full of crud

Resurrecting this thread, just to show that I have at least done a search!

My washer jets seem to have gone very feeble, still hitting the screen but more a dribble than a jet.

I'll try the suggested ideas above, but anyone got any other ideas??

The only times I've had that problem it was due to crud in the reservoir blocking the filter on the pump so I'd start there.

The pumps are a push fit so they just pull out of the reservoir. I found an old toothbrush worked a treat to clean the filter.

Talking of new jets, does anyone know of a source other than direct from BMW? Are they unique to the E89?

I know the jets are heated.

Correct.

Buy the originals from BMW and it will work.

Are there any pictures or diagrams that show where the filter is? I had a quick look yesterday but couldn't see anything obvious and I was reticent about pulling things apart!

you will need to take out the tank , the pump and filter unclip , then take apart and clean

As above, I had the exact same issue. I took the wiper fluid tank thing out, it's a few nuts. and there was loads of black shite clogged up at the bottom I just took the filter out and gave that a wash. Was a little black thing if I remember correctly. Works perfect now.

I am the least mechanically minded person ever so I can assure you it's very simple - I can do it!

I have the same problem with my widscreen jets not working but my headlight jets are ok. Are there seperate filters for windscreen and headlights? Also, I detached the water pipe leadding to windscreen but no water comes out of the detached pipe.
Thank you.

Hi all, glad I found this thread as I had the same problem and couldn't work out where the filters were, found this video (although it isn't a Zed) and it helped me do the job which was easy - all resolved ! -https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iUsUL1N0geY

Once I'd taken out the reservoir and cleaned it out, THEN I found the filters, I thought they were just grommets - doh !

Thanks Gazman. I did sort out my issue which was congealed windscreen solution. Unfortunately I had already taken all the windscreen washer tubing out, what a waste of time. I'll know where to start in the future.

To those who've cleaned the gunk off their filters I've found sticking to just one brand of screen-wash stopped it happening again, in both an E86 and E46.

Any particular brand recommended or just choose one and stick to it ??
