Windscreen washer jets not working

Hi all,

I have not really been using the MC much due to lockdown. The last time I drove it I noticed there was no fluid coming out of the washer jets and that was because the reservoir was empty.

I thought it would be best to remove the reservoir to clean it internally and also clean the filters at the same time.

I have put everything back in the car, filled the reservoir to about half way full and whilst I can hear the pumps working, no fluid is spraying. I have checked the fuses and all are fine.

Does anyone have any ideas on what the problem could be?

Many thanks

I was doing a similar job yesterday too. Mine was one of the headlight washers not working. I found a kinked pipe. But the first while I tried it after the washer pump was making the much more shrill empty sound. I unclipped the outgoing pipe, jiggled the pump about a bit and it seemed to prime it. All working well now. Is it still much louder or does it sound normal?

Hi Trav,

Thanks for the reply.

The pumps make the exact same noise as before. I will check the pipes for any kinks and triple check all the connections!

Many thanks

All sorted, I just double checked the connections, moved the pumps around a bit and works fine now

Any one way check valves in the pipework, just been through this on the wifes Suzuki Aklto, found it was a blocked one way in-line check valve running to the affected jet, so blocked it blew the pipe off, had to take the wiper arms off to get the scuttle lifted off to get at the pipework on that. Poked the blocked valve with some wire to clean it, popped back and tested flow restored.
