Windscreen washer bung

Need to block the hose going to the front washers on the lights, but can’t find either a bung to plug the hose, or a dummy hose to put on the pump. Any suggestions on what to use? This is to stop the hose leaking at the headlight side.

The pump has been coded out so will never spray

If it's temporary, I use a screw which is a tiny bit larger diameter than the internal diameter of the hose.
If it's permanent, I do the same but with a squirt of silicone sealant on the screw threads too.

On my headlight washer hose from the Z3 which I have removed, I had a ribbed hard connector in the line, so melted one end with a heat gun and squashed it together with pliers until it set. Works but doesn't look very pretty, so I have hidden it from view forever! :)

If you want to be posh, you can buy rubber bungs, of any size on the 'Bay or Amazon. One of those and a small cable tie (or a spare clip if you have one) will definitely sort it. The internal diameter will be 4mm, 6mm or maybe even 10mm.

Yup, small length of pipe on the pump outlet and a bolt in the other end with a jubilee clip.
Another option is a slightly longer piece of pipe from the pump outlet to a point higher than the water level in the tank.

The best option is to replace your tank with one that didn't have the second pump fitted.

There's a T piece that connects the pipe from the pump to the two that go to the headlight washers. I disconnected that and managed to find a bolt that I wound in tight.

A bit of a bodge I know but the washer jet started leaking less than a week before I was going on a trip to Scotland and I didn't fancy doing that in March with no screen-washers!

Then again it's still working, and does mean that all the pipework is still there.

Thanks all, will try a bolt in first and see if that stops the leak. Easy enough to see on the garage floor
