Windscreen wash with roof open

I needed to do a bit of dead bug removal on long journey with roof down. However didn't have bottle to use the windscreen wash with roof down. I guess someone has tried it, do you get wet? do you need to be above a certain speed etc etc....

If you are stationary you will get wet. Over 5-10mph you should be fine, but just use small skooshes if you're going slow. At 40-50mph there is a possibility the water will funnel up the side of the windscreen and either off the corner or along the top of the window if it's up. All of that is from my e85 experience, but I can't see it would be any different on yours.

Absolutely fine on the E85, i do it all the time and had no problems.

I found it ok providing the side windows are up, otherwise it drips from the top edge of the windscreen onto the inside of the door. Nothing to serious tho :)

Yes thats bang on , but on the plus side it is quite refreshing

Only issue I normally have as mentioned is using too much water normally results in it running up the driver's side seal and into the cabin in a drip form unless the window is up.

Same happens if you're driving in rain with the roof down. No biggie, don't sweat it

'skooshes'

I knew what you meant but thought you made that word up. Turns out its valid and good description :)

scoosh [skʊʃ] Scot
vb
1. to squirt
2. (intr) (of liquid) to rush
n
1. a squirt or rush of liquid
2. (Cookery) any fizzy drink

Damn, got my spelling wrong :slaphead:

Not been totally Anglified

Yep, fine with side windows up. I clean them all the time but I only do little pulls on the arm rather than keep it pulled forward. More control over the amount just in case!

Not sure about the e89, but it is the headlight washers that really get you wet in mine if you're not going fast and have your lights on :x

Its the same game roof up roulette!
If it starts to rain, how heavy does it have to get before you stop and put the roof up?

Very :D

I have a rain sensitive head, being mostly bald. Once rain starts hitting it at over 40mph it is time to cover up - but the rain needs to be really quite heavy :D

+1 no problem stationary, but windows need to be up.

Windows up

But saying that had them down yesterday and no real issues, get more from other drivers lol.
