Windscreen Scuttle Panel not flush to Windscreen

Hi

I had my windscreen replaced today and now I have a couple of 2 inch gaps where the scuttle pane lifts away from the windscreen.
I've tried to push the panel down hoping it would clip down but it made no difference.

Has anyone had the windscreen replaced and had this problem ?

Should I get windscreen company out to fix it ?

Thanks

I did this fix recently. Basically it is virtually impossible to remove the trim without breaking the clips. 3 of the 8 were broken on mine when I removed it. Go to the dealer and order 8 new ones, it will only cost a couple of quid. Then it will snap in and sit perfectly flush. Don't waste your time with the window company, they will bodge it as they won't have the correct clips.

Do it ASAP as you may get a water leak, I'm sure water was getting in when mine was misaligned.

I've had a closer look and I can fit a 2 pence coin flat between the panel and windscreen along one half of the glass.

I can see the last clip on the panel is correctly fitted and there is still the gap.
Maybe I'm being petty.

No it should be dead flush, trust me one or more of the clips will be broken. All 8 need to be present for a perfect fit.

I replaced mine recently for same reason - I had used a glue gun to reattach the clips but the fitting wasn't great

A new scuttle panel is about £75 from sopers

Interesting.

Dealer had to replace my panel twice. First when the changed the wiper motor and it wouldn't sit flat. Then they replaced it when they changed the windscreen a while later.

Mine is the same, its lifted in several places. Good to know you can get spare clips.

Only comment I would add is that the panel and rubber lip on the screen are purely cosmetic. Water cannot get in as the windscreen is sealed into the frame, so do the repair correctly not in a rush over fears of a leak.

It doesn't get in past the screen, but it does get in under the panel somewhere. If it didn't, how else would blocked drains cause water to get in the cabin? It's the same thing - if your drains are blocked, water backs up into the area under the panel which is where the cabin filter is, I assume this is where the water gets in. It's no different from water getting behind the panel. If you look at the panel it's clear that no water is supposed to get behind it - that's why it drains the water off from the top down to the sides and out the drains.

I found a thread while sorting mine out where a guy with the same problem asked his wife to use a hose over the windscreen and with his head in the footwell he could see water getting in. I can't find the thread now unfortunately.

2 different things here. There was comment that this not sealing could cause water to leak through the screen and that's not correct. The screen is independantly sealed.

On a separate issue if the drains are blocked then water will rise and get into the cabin. That will come past that lip around the wipers or any one of a dozen routes, even condensation. It always will get in so needs the drains fixing. It's the same as door windows. Water will always get past the wiper seal. You just have to ensure the membrane is perfect and drain holes clear to allow it out as per the design, else it enters the cabin.

I'm having a new screen soon quoted £264 from auto windscreens, is this competitive ?

Is there a part no for theses clips ?

Cheers

By the way, if you buy some don't try and separate them. They are 2 pieces but you are not supposed to separate them to fit, just attach them as-is to the underside of the trim and then fit. You'll see what I mean by it being impossible to remove them without breaking them.

Here's a photo of the gap. It's almost like when they removed the panel, the panel has changed shape slightly.
Is that possible ?

I hope that goes back with the new clips.
When I have my screen done they will be told about this and I'll be watching like a hawk.

Fingers x with the clips let's hope you won't need a new panel.

Update.

The body shop took it all off, and say that due to age and the sun the scuttle panel is distorted. It is now sitting better against the windscreen but there is still a gap about 3cm this lifts from the windscreen.

I guess I'll live with it.
