Windscreen Scratches

I find that it's almost impossible to drive at night due to the scratches on the windscreen.
They are small, not noticeable during the day.

Having read some of the posts here on windscreen replacement, i am loath to go down that route.

So, next option is polishing. I cannot find anyone who offers this as a service where i am located. Hence i will have to do this myself.

The problem is that most of these kits suggest using a drill. or a manual polish. I don't think that the manual option would be effective and don't feel confident using a drill on the windscreen.

Would a cheap (enough, €90) orbital polisher from Amazon do the trick?

Anyone have any experience of this?

Windscreen replacement on mine was not a problem. Just over £100 and not a single issue since.

The thing about scratches in the windshield is that polish alone won't do the trick. In order to get to the bottom of the pits and scratches you have to grind away the rest of the glass to the same depth of those scratches, that is a long involved process, a lot of work.
I tried it once and gave up, ended up just buying a new windshield.
There are some compounds that start off relatively coarse and break down into smaller particles so you end up with a kind of polish at the end of the session but what they are doing is rounding off the edges the pits so not as much light is scattered. It helps but only partially.

I have seen posts about windscreens and people paying hundreds of pounds to replace them.
Check your car insurance, you probably get free windscreen replacement or around a £50 excess and it does not affect NCD.
Just tap it, crack it, call the company and you will have a spanking new screen within 36 hours.
