Windscreen rubber cracking on the A-pillars

A couple days ago I noticed that the windscreen trim on my Z4C is starting to crack, especially on the a-pillars. In fear of water ingress and the dredded brown stuff, I ordered a new rubber from BMW Park Lane.

After a quick Google search, I ended up watching this video:

My question is: can I do the same for my Z4C? (I presume I can but wanted to double check as my roof is wrapped and don’t want to damage it).

No idea if you can do it without removing the windshield completely - however I replaced mine with an OEM seal when my windscreen was replaced. £50 excess and I got a nice clear window and new seal

No reason why you can't. Its a weather strip to make things look pretty. Just remove the old and replace with the new.

When my windscreen got replaced, the fitter said the screen has to come out to replace the trim.

Edit: watching the video, it's cleae the fitter was talking rubbish. Maybe they didn't want to risk damaging the windscreen or paintwork removing the old trim?

Either way, it's just a trim as said above, to make things look pretty. It has no water repelling abilities.

Just a quick update.

The rubber has arrived and I will be installing it this weekend.

Whilst at Park Lane I asked how much it would cost for them to install it. The technician confirmed it would take 3 hours (as he believed the windscreen must be removed) which would cost £600, not including VAT

Indeed the correct BMW repair procedure for this trim piece is to remove the windscreen.
BMW recently installed a new windscreen for me and made a bit of a hash of it tbh. I had them redo it as the weatherstrip really didn't sit well, they took the windscreen out again to do that (and replaced the scuttle cowl foc :) ).
I'll be interested to see how you get on, from that video it looks doable but I think it's going to be quite difficult to get a really decent fit to the roof line, good luck

Is this Park lane as in Park Lane London. Only £600 not including VAT for 3 hours labour cost must include an Oxfam type orgy for that price.
