Windscreen replaced but not happy.

Basically, if it's fitted too low in the aperture it'll leave gaps down each side. It's fitted right when the gaps are the same width all around the A pillars (top to bottom at both sides)
As per the pics on the last page, if it's fitted too low down then these gaps open up and it'll never sit right.
Just make sure that rubber at the top of the screen is where it was before the screen was swapped, that is the best sign it's back in right.
ALL said and done, I think it's just the odd few who have issues, possibly with lazy fitters or just people having a bad day. Stick around and chat with them and keep em happy and make sure they don't get lazy and imho everything should be fine

I had Autowindscreens fit mine, did a great job and did my company car screen at the same time ( an unlucky coupla weeks). The fitter was great, carefull and explained everything he was doing. Both cars had rain sensors and he hadn't done one for my Toyota company car as it was a new model. He was on the phone a lot , but took his time and was tidy and clean. It was a friday afternoon as well!!! Praps I've been lucky.

Feeling great after reading this thread :x
Had my car 2 days now and got a bloody chip on the windscreen, so took it to Autoglass an hour ago and they made it worse (the chip is now a 3 inch long crack). There coming to my house tomorrow to replace for £70. I'm now quite concerned that they will screw it up. I'm just going to watch over him like mentioned. :headbang:

I did have ny TVR screen replaced by Autoglass in February and they used what they called there specialist fitter. He did and great job but did break the interior mirror. He popped round to fit it an said that he liked doing these type of cars as he was allowed more time to fit them and it gave him the time to do it properly.
I have just got the Z4 and thought I would use BMW insurance, a bit more expensive but the guarantee to only use genuine parts. I have noticed, however that they are the same with the windscreen only using AutoGlass or £150 towards using someone else, a real dissapointment.

Got my windscreen done this morning and I watched him like a hawk and gave him a brew to keep him on side
I quizzed him on the gaps and he said it was the best that he could do, that it would 'bed in' over time, he added some more 'gunk' to try and get it as good as poss. As for the old line at the top, it is about 1mm different, I can live with that. What do you reckon, should I be pleased?

That looks pretty nice. I can see the old line across the top of roof where the old one ran up to, but that rubber is only maybe 15mm deep, so that is about 0.5-1mm tops, so I'd say that is well within tolerance.
I think the person who had issues had it literally 6 or 7mm down, which meant that the screen had a big gap at one side, and a huge gap at the other, it was basically nowhere near.
Sensible to make the fitter aware of the problem anyway, so they will have had it in mind and adjusted their attitude accordingly to that aspect of the job
If the gap moving down from those points (ie, sides of screen) stay consistent all the way down, and are equal at each side, then that is good

Sorry mate but that looks like a poor job.
The problem is that rubber does move around, it's not fixed. As long as the glass underneath is square that is the main thing.
Ie, I can push/pull the rubber across the top and where it joins the top of the A-pillars around by a good 5mm on mine, in all directions.
Best bet is to have the dealer take a look, but I'm sure it's fine at that. You could tweak the rubber yourself to get it 'perfect' if you wanted, as it does have some movement in it about the glass itself.

I think you'll find those top corners will settle down over time as mine did.
