Windscreen rain sensor

I've just had fitted a replacement windscreen on my 2006 Z4M and the auto wipers no longer activate. I was told by the guy replacing the screen that it was rain sensored.
How can I do a visual check on the screen to see if it is the correct one? Otherwise, before I hare off to BMW, anybody got an idea what the problem might be?
Thanks.

Try spray some water on the sensor and see if the wipers come on?

The guy should have checked it was all working before he left, first stage on the stalk and then spray the sensor and see what happens.

hopz121, I've done that, the wipers do not activate in the auto position. So it must either be a fault with the screen or with the electrics.

when you move the stick to auto, do they move at least once?
(they should move once to calibrate)

check the sensor behind the mirror and see if there are any visible bubbles.. if there are, it's not going to work and the guy needs to come out and resort it.

The wipers move once when set to auto, then nothing, even when hosed. Went up to the National Windscreens depot, they fitted the replacement, they checked everything, the correct screen, connections, etc. They said the problem is on the car somewhere.

Further development is that during a recent routine service at BMW, the diagnostics picked up the fault and the technicians say that the replacement windscreen supplied is not to BMW spec being marginally the wrong thickness, this causing the problem. I have contacted National Windscreens and they are investigating the supply and have assured me that they will replace it.
I'll post further updates and post a topic when it has been resolved.
