thought i'd update this and give credit where credit's due.
they came out to replace the windscreen today with one with the top tint.
the guy that came arrived at 4pm and got straight to work. he didn't mind me watching him and was very talkative which made it a lot less uncomfortable (watching a stranger do a job).
within 45 minutes he had fitted the new one and has done a fantastic job.
can't fault the company or the fitter for sorting out the problem
