Windscreen chips and tiny marks

Does anyone else's windscreen suffer from tiny little marks that affect you vision out of it in sunlight? They are not cracks but almost like loads of tiny scratches. Just wondered if there is an alternative solution to a windscreen repair that I could try first?
 
Scratches and tiny stone chips accrue over time to make a bit of a mess. You can try cerium oxide and a rayon pad with a DA to remove some of it ( I have ) but there's no perfect resolution other than a new windscreen.
 
Yes. I'm on my 3rd windscreen in 3 years of ownership.

I think it's due to how low the z4 is. What normally hits the front bumper and bonnet in normal cars ends up hitting the Zed's windscreen.

Btw my current one has a big chip in that needs fixing. :(
 
I lost count of how many chips I had in the z4 windscreen...

I've had none in the DS3... (goes off to touch some wood...)
 
I just had a chip repaired, a result of a lead foot 911 driver plus a gravel covered roundabout. I asked the guy about the scratches and he said it would need replacing hence the question to see what I could do first. If there is no quick fix, then may go ahead and book a replacement and just pay the excess. Will the windscreen companies usually do it just at a drivers request, i.e. It's not covered in chips and is structurally fine.
 
Had two larger chips repaired last year. One of which was starting to spread. It hasn't got any bigger so that's ok. The windscreen is filled with little 'scuffs' though and makes it always look dirty.

This is the only car I've ever had this on.

Yes. The first one I had replaced had a chip which had been filled already. I asked the guy if he could redo it but he said it wasn't possible and just to ring up and book it in with his company for a new screen.
