No, the interior trim doesn't need removing. That seal that goes around the edge is just a trim that hides the bonding agent between glass and metal. The only thing they remove inside is the rear view mirror and plastic surround.

Insurance wouldn't pay for a oem screen, I could pay the difference but im selling next year so i want to keep costs down. They did get me an oem seal kit though.

I've got a slight concern, autoglass have said its a green screen, is this right for the coupe? I've looked on real oem but it doesnt tell me alot.

Green screen is right according to local main dealer. I didn't think a windscreen would be so much hassle.

What's the likelihood of getting insurance to cover a replacement due to scratches and small chips peppered over the screen? It's been replaced at some point previous as there's no BMW stamp on the corner, and I believe it's branded Saint-Gobain who seem to be... Mediocre!

I wouldn't mind a non-oem good quality glass such as Pilkington, which is what the rear and side windows are.

So is it worth giving autoglass a call and letting them know it's not broke, but it's in poor condition and I'd like a replacement? The sun is making the scratches particularly visible recently!

St Gobain and Pilkington are divisions of the same company so the screens will be the same, just badges.

So yeah, autoglass gets my vote everytime They've done 2 now and even come to my workplace to fit them. Very convenient.

Insist on genuine BMW trim and screen, you may have to wait a little, but it's worth it. I went through a massive debacle trying to get a trim and screen that fitted and was not rippled. AG supplied genuine items eventually.

Fair enough, might just be that it's an old screen then as it's looking well past its best!

Very surprised by that as it was obvious the quality of my old Saint gobain branded glass was inferior to the Pilkington one.

You could just give it a little tap with a small hammer the day before its due to be fitted........
